Expansion tanks for radiant heating systems

Water (coolant) – incompressible, but when heated they expand. For that to avoid the strong pressure on the pipes in radiant heating systems (hot water), these devices take on the excess pressure, which otherwise would break the internal backbone.

Selection of the tanks produced for each system individually, based on the amount of water (coolant).

Expansion tanks for closed (forced) heating system, a steel flask, which is built into a solid rubber membrane of technical rubber to withstand high temperatures.

It assumes arising due to the excess heating of the coolant. Moreover, displacement of the expansion tank for each of the heating system is calculated individually.

Practice shows that in systems where mounted gas boilers already have the tank, in 98% of the cases have to install additional tanks to achieve a desired result.

For hot water systems (DHW)

The principle of the expansion tank for hot water, exactly the same as for the heating system. In hot water system, he also takes on excessive expansion of the liquid. Material of manufacture of the membrane is replaced with technical rubber on the food.

Application: in complex systems with hot water provided by recycling.

Choosing expansion tank

Initially, all considered to be divided tanks into two basic types:

The first type – devices designed to compensate for the excessive amount of fluid in the heating systems and thermal expansion of water. This expansion tanks

When heated, the boiler temperature of the liquid-coolant in it increases. When heated, the liquid expands. This leads to an increase in its volume by about 0,3% for every 10 ° C. Therefore, the increase in temperature to 70 ° C initial volume of fluid will increase by approximately 3%. The liquid is practically incompressible and if the heating system is not equipped with optional device that allows somewhere to go this volume, the inevitable happens and destruction. To avoid this, and apply expansion tanks.

The second type of tanks – a tank for water (hydraulic accumulators). This device, built to keep the pressure hydraulic system, ensures the continued readiness of the system to work under steady pressure. Accumulator prevents the need for the pump each time the system requires.

Thus the accumulator maintains the pressure in the system, providing additional volume of water in the system to the desired level. Also, expansion tank tanks can be used to prevent the destruction of the system from water hammer. This phenomenon occurs in the pipes when I get disconnected or switched the pump, the rapid opening or closing the valve. Pressures can be much faster than static and it can lead to the destruction of pipelines, threaded connections or plumbing devices. To avoid this, and given that the volume changes when pressure fluctuations are small, are invited to use expansion tanks of small capacity – 0.2 liters.

Also, tanks can be used as containers with liquid in fire fighting systems, fire fighting, and as a reserve tanks in cases where electricity is turned off. Externally hydroaccumulators very similar expansion tanks of heating systems. However, the appointment and service conditions have other, hence there are structural differences.

The main difference is the material of the expansion tank, and the peculiarities of the location of air and water chambers. As a material for expansion tank accumulators use food gums. To the material of the expansion tank expansion tanks usually do not set such high hygienic and sanitary requirements, so it is possible to use other materials, which will be discussed later.
